The main problem I suspect most people will find is that in schools or work the proxy settings are not accessible. The are either limited to administrators or locked by Group policy. There are some ways around this but perhaps the simplest is either the translate proxy trick mentioned above or to install another browser. Often teh restrictions will only be set up for IE so if you are able to install say Chrome then you should be able to modify the LAN connection settings.
